Mattia Binotto (born 3 November 1969) is an Italian engineer of Swiss origin who is the team principal of Scuderia Ferrari in Formula One.

He was appointed to the position on January 7, 2019, succeeding Maurizio Arrivabene. His parents are from Italy.

Binotto, a Lausanne native, graduated with a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in 1994. He then went on to the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia for his master’s in motor vehicle engineering.

In 1995, he started working for Scuderia Ferrari in the engine division. He was a part of the successful early 2000s team.

He was appointed head of the engine division in 2013 and replaced James Allison as Ferrari’s chief technical officer (CTO) in July 2016.
Ferrari once more attempted to contend for regular race victories during Binotto’s two years as CTO. He was appointed team principal in 2019 and took Maurizio Arrivabene’s place. He announced his departure from the position in November 2022. On December 31, he is slated to quit his position.
