Eric Johann Johnson, a Canadian actor who was born on August 7, 1979, is best known for his roles as Flash Gordon on the 2007–2008 television series of the same name, Whitney Fordman on the science fiction series Smallville, Detective Luke Callaghan on the police drama Rookie Blue, and Jack Hyde in the Fifty Shades of Grey film series. He has been appearing in the HBO Max horror series Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin since 2022 as a chauvinist corrupt sheriff.
At the age of nine, Johnson’s parents put him in Stage Polaris, an Edmonton-based theater group, where he began his performing career. In the 1994 movie Legends of the Fall, Johnson portrayed the younger version of Brad Pitt’s character. Johnson played the starring role in the acclaimed Canadian movie Scorn. His breakthrough performance as Whitney Fordman, a football jock, and rival to Clark Kent in Smallville, occurred in 2001.
