A businessman and investor from the United States by the initials SBF, Samuel Bankman-Fried is also the founder and former CEO of the cryptocurrency exchanges FTX and FTX.US as well as the quantitative cryptocurrency trading firm Alameda Research. His birthday is March 6, 1992.
Bankman-Fried was born on the Stanford University campus into a Jewish family. He is the son of Barbara Fried and Joseph Bankman, two Stanford Law School professors.
The native coin of FTX, FTT, crashed toward the end of 2022 as a result of a crisis at FTX. During the crisis, Bankman-Fried resigned as CEO of FTX and announced he would close Alameda Research. Then FTX submitted a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.
In the summer of 2013, Bankman-Fried began trading foreign ETFs at the proprietary trading firm Jane Street Capital. He started as an intern and returned there full-time after graduating.
In September 2017, Bankman-Fried left Jane Street and made Berkeley his new home. He worked with the Centre for Effective Altruism as the director of development from October to November of that year.
