Thomas Jacob Black is an American actor, comedian, and musician.
He is best known for his appearances in the films High Fidelity, Shallow Hal, Orange County, School of Rock, Envy, and The Holiday, among others.

Jack Black was born in Santa Monica, California, on August 28, 1969. Both his parents, Thomas William Black and Judith Love Cohen were satellite engineers.
His mother Judith worked on the Minuteman nuclear missile guidance system, the Apollo lunar module guidance system, and the science ground station for the Hubble Space Telescope.
His mother had three children from a previous relationship named Neil Siegel, Howard Siegel, and Rachel Siegel. Though Black is currently an atheist, he was raised Jewish and attended Hebrew school.
Growing up, he attended the Poseidon School, which is a private secondary school designed for students struggling in the traditional school system. After he was enrolled at the Crossroads School, where he thrived in drama.
After graduating. he attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In his sophomore year, he dropped out to pursue a career in entertainment.
