Sope Aluko (pronounced “Shaw-peh Ahlookoh”) is a Nigerian-born actress who was raised mostly in the United Kingdom.
She spent her childhood traveling and living in countries such as France, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, and Indonesia. She is a dual citizen of the United States and the United Kingdom, and she speaks four languages, including her native Yoruba.
Aluko studied acting and dance at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) during her time in the UK. She had the honor of performing the world-famous South African “Ipi Tombi” dance at Nigeria’s National Arts Theater.
Despite being a skilled artist, she holds an undergraduate degree in engineering and a master’s degree in marketing.
Aluko returned to acting and performing after a highly successful career in the corporate world in both London and the US and the death of her parents.
Since then, she has landed recurring parts on series like “Bloodline” on Netflix, “Law & Order SVU” on NBC, and “Parks & Recreation,” as well as guest spots on shows like “Burn Notice” on USA Network, “Graceland,” “Army Wives” on Lifetime, “Counterpart” on Starz, “Legacies” on the CW, and more.
The actress lives in both Miami and Los Angeles and is married with two teenage boys.
