Maluma was born Juan Luis Londoño Arias on January 28, 1994, in the Medelln, Colombia, district of Envigado.
He grew up in a working-class Colombian family. His father worked in logistics and his mother was a housewife.
Maluma’s stage name is a tribute to his family, with the first two letters standing for his mother Marlii, father Luis, and older sister Manuela.
