Morgan won the celebrity version of The Apprentice in the United States in 2008. He was finally named Celebrity Apprentice by host Donald Trump on March 27, beating out fellow finalist, American country music artist Trace Adkins, and raising significantly more money than all of the other contenders combined. In the end, Trump described Morgan as “ruthless, arrogant, wicked, and rude.”
Morgan indicated that he will not vote for Trump in the 2016 US presidential election (though as a permanent resident of the United States, not a citizen, he is not qualified to vote). He foresaw Trump’s victory to the presidency and characterized himself as a close buddy. In March 2016, Morgan interviewed Trump on Good Morning Britain.
Piers Morgan has ended his association with outgoing US President Donald Trump in the aftermath of the attack on the US Capitol building in Washington, DC.
On Wednesday, Trump supporters rushed the Capitol building, resulting in a violent riot that killed four people in circumstances Morgan called as “utterly horrible.”
The president sent rioters a video message on Twitter saying “I love you,” which contributed to his suspension from the social network for “repeated and grave violations” of its Civic Integrity standard.
