The official roster for the 26-man Costa Rican World Cup squad has been released for the competition in Qatar. The Central American nation was the second to publish its team after Japan on Tuesday.
The nation’s captain, Bryan Ruiz, will compete in his third World Cup. The 2014 and 2018 competitions saw his team under the direction of the former Fulham star. Ruiz has played a total of 144 senior games for Costa Rica.
Keylor Navas is also taking part in his third straight World Cup. The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper was in the net for Costa Rica’s final qualifying match. He managed to keep a clean sheet against New Zealand to guarantee his team’s place in the upcoming competition.
Three players from Major League Soccer were also a part of the team managed by Luis Fernando Suarez. Bryan Oviedo, Daniel Chacon, and Ronald Matarrita, three defenders, will all go to Qatar. The trio was the first official soccer league participant in the 2022 World Cup.
