The Tunisian nation’s captain is Youssef Msakni. Youssef Msakni, a Tunisian professional football player on loan from Al-Duhail and the Tunisia national team, plays as a winger or forward for Qatar Stars League club Al Arabi. He was born on October 28, 1990. Msakni has over 80 games under his belt and 17 goals for Tunisia.
Msakni transferred to Espérance Sportive de Tunis in July 2008 after spending his formative years at Stade Tunisien. On July 26, 2009, the first day of the 2009–10 season, he took the field for ES Tunis for the first time against Olympique Béja. He replaced Henri Bienvenu Ntsama on the field in the 79th minute of action. Msakni scored his first league goal in his third game against AS Kasserine two weeks later, on August 8, in the 54th minute of play, to help his team win 4-0. He finished second in the competition with five goals, just behind Wydad Casablanca striker Fabrice Ondama, who finished with six goals and went on to win the CAF Champions League on November 12, 2011.
He won the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 for a fourth time on September 30, 2012, and was named the best goal scorer in the national football championship with 17 goals. Msakni was ranked as the 48th best football player worldwide for the 2012 season by Goal.com, largely due to the accomplishments made while representing his club or the country. He was pursued by a number of French teams during the transfer window, including Paris Saint-Germain, Lille OSC, AS Monaco, and FC Lorient. However, on July 3, 2012, the attacking midfielder agreed to a four-year contract with Lekhwiya SC of the Qatari Stars League. He began playing for the team on January 1, 2013.
