The Doom franchise is arguably his best work yet. It was however embroiled in heavy controversy before its release. Both the Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal soundtracks were released in April of 2020.
The disparity in quality between the two is due to Gordon not doing much of the work. Marty Stratton, an executive producer at id Software, claimed Gordon did not share the source material for the additional tracks on the OST in an open letter posted on Reddit.
The atrocious controversy that surrounded his work seriously impacted his physical and mental health. He allegedly received death threats from people who were convinced stole the work from someone else.
