Derrick Brown, an American football defensive tackle for the National Football League’s Carolina Panthers, was born on April 15, 1998. He was selected by the Panthers in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft after playing college football for Auburn.

Later, while playing defensive tackle for Lanier High School in Sugar Hill, Georgia, he had 33.5 quarterback sacks, 270 tackles, 5 forced fumbles, and 3 interceptions. As a senior, Brown was regarded as one of the top high school defensive tackles in the country. He was recruited by a number of schools, with Georgia and Alabama saw as the front-runners, before deciding to attend Auburn University on February 3, 2016.

Brown made 11 tackles as a rookie in 2016 while also recording a sack and recovering a fumble. Brown made 49 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, 8.5 tackles for a loss, and 2 forced fumbles as a sophomore in 2017, starting all 12 games. With 48 tackles, 10.5 for a loss, and 4.5 sacks as a junior, Brown was named to the second team of the SEC. He had 55 tackles as a senior, including 12.5 tackles for a loss, four sacks, two forced fumbles, and four pass breakups. He was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year and received All-American recognition.
