American football running back Leonard Joseph Fournette III, born January 18, 1995, plays for the National Football League’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL). Fournette was the third-best prospect entering the NFL Combine when he graduated from college and was widely expected to be selected in the top ten picks in the upcoming draft. He decided to only take part in the vertical and 40-yard dash at the NFL combine after weighing five pounds more than his playing weight in college.
Where did Leonard Fournette go to high school?
His parents, Leonard Jr. and Lory, raised Fournette in the 7th Ward of New Orleans, a problematic neighborhood that was frequently afflicted by gang activity and violence, particularly after Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005. Fournette traveled to Houston and back within a year due to the hurricane evacuation, and he credits Katrina with giving his football career a jump start. He also attributes the family’s success in recovering to his mother’s Catholic faith.
When he returned to New Orleans, he participated in track and field and played football for St. Augustine High School. His time of 21.57 seconds for the 200 meters is the quickest in 4A, and his time of 10.68 for the 100 meters is just.02 off the best.
