Sean Murphy-Bunting, formerly Bunting, was born on June 19, 1997. He is presently a cornerback with the National Football League’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He attended Central Michigan for his college football career.
Murphy-Bunting played high school football while attending Chippewa Valley High School. For the Chippewas, Murphy-Bunting played three seasons, beginning in his sophomore and junior years. As a sophomore, he finished second in the Mid-American Conference with five interceptions. Murphy-Bunting racked up 37 tackles and two interceptions as a junior, earning a berth on the Mid-American Conference first team. He made the choice to forfeit his final year of eligibility in order to participate in the 2019 National Football League Draft.
In the second round of the 2019 National Football League Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers picked Murphy-Bunting as the overall 39th pick. Murphy-Bunting dislocated his elbow in the first quarter of a 31-29 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the season opener, and on September 13, 2021, he was placed on injured reserve. He began his employment on November 22.
