Zyon McCollum, a cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League, was conceived on May 3, 1999. Prior to being taken by the Buccaneers in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, he played collegiate football for Sam Houston State.

McCollum started his career’s first season as a cornerback. After compiling 44 tackles, eight passes broken up, and three interceptions during his sophomore season, he was selected first-team All-Southland Conference. Even though McCollum missed the final three games of the season due to injury, he was named to the second-team All-Conference as a junior. He accomplished this by breaking up 11 passes and intercepting 3 of them.

During his senior year, which was cut short and played in the spring of 2021 due to the COVID-19 epidemic in the US, he made 46 tackles and was selected to the first-team All-Southland. The 2021 NCAA Division I Football Championship Game was won by the Bearkats.
