Mike Edwards

Mike Edwards, a safety with the National Football League’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was born on May 18, 1996. The Buccaneers selected him in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft after he played college football for Kentucky.

In Week 3’s game against the Denver Broncos, Edwards secured the Buccaneers’ 28-10 victory by intercepting a Brett Rypien pass late in the fourth quarter.

Drew Brees’ ball was intercepted by Edwards during the New Orleans Saints 30-20 loss in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. When the Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV, Edwards received his first Super Bowl ring.

Edwards finished with four tackles, three pass deflections, and two interceptions from Matt Ryan that were returned for scores in the 48-25 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2.

For his play in Week 2, Edwards was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. On December 2, 2021, Edwards received a fine from the NFL for three games’ worth of COVID-19 infractions, specifically lying about his immunization status.
