Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, an outside linebacker with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League, was born on April 30, 1999. Tryon-Shoyinka played football, basketball, and baseball while a student at Hazen High School. He grew up in Renton, Washington.

The Seattle Times named him the defensive lineman of the year for the area when he was a senior. For his collegiate football career, Tryon-Shoyinka switched his commitment from Washington State to the University of Washington.

He was selected by the Buccaneers in the first round of the 2021 National Football League Draft after playing college football for Washington. As a true freshman, Tryon-Shoyinka redshirted his first season at the University of Washington. He participated in 12 games as a redshirt freshman and recorded 20 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack.

In his redshirt sophomore season, Tryon-Shoyinka recorded 41 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, and eight sacks. He was named to the Pac-12 Conference’s second team. Tryon-Shoyinka announced that he will be ready for the 2021 National Football League Draft after the Pac-12 initially declared that they would postpone the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
