
On August 9, 1997, Ulysees Gilbert III, a linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League, was born. The Pittsburgh Steelers selected him from Akron, where he played college football, in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Gilbert was chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round (207th overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft. The choice was originally given to the Steelers in a deal involving the offseason trade of Marcus Gilbert to the Arizona Cardinals. Gilbert’s back injury caused the Steelers to place him on injured reserve on November 5, 2019.
Due to a new back condition, Gilbert was placed on injured reserve on November 4, 2020. He started functioning on December 12, 2020. He was again placed on injured reserve on December 25, 2020.
He was waived/injured on August 10, 2022, and the next day he was placed on injured reserve. He was released on August 19, 2022, and received compensation for his injuries.
