Preston Demarquis Smith, an outside linebacker for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League, was conceived on November 17, 1992. (National Football League). Prior to being selected in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins, he played college football for Mississippi State University.
Smith, a true freshman in 2011, participated in 8 games and made an interception against Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl (31-3). Smith played in all 13 of the Bulldogs’ games in 2012 and topped the team with 4.5 sacks. As a junior, Smith recorded 2.5 sacks for the 2013 campaign, 2.0 of which came in a 59-26 loss against Louisiana State University.
With three consecutive weeks winning the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week Award, Smith had a solid start to the 2014 season. Smith got an interception in the Bulldogs’ 49-0 thrashing of Southern Miss and returned another spectacular, one-handed interception for a touchdown in the Bulldogs’ win over UAB. By the end of the season, Smith had 42 tackles, nine sacks, two interceptions, and a score.
