On January 2, 1996, Yosuah Hesdy Nijman, an offensive tackle with the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League(NFL), was born. He played football for Virginia Tech in college.
Before being signed on May 3 by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent, Nijman played for Virginia Tech for four years. He was let go on August 31 and later that day was added to the practice squad.
On November 26, he was added to the active roster; however, on December 21, he was placed on injured reserve due to an elbow injury that would prevent him from playing the rest of the season.
Nijman was chosen by the Packers to begin the 2021 season as their third-string left tackle behind David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins. After Jenkins tore his ankle in a Week 2 victory over the Detroit Lions and Bakhtiari was still recuperating from an ACL rupture sustained during the 2020 season, Nijman received his first career start in a Week 3 victory against the San Francisco 49ers.
Nijman continued to start in Jenkins’ absence for triumphs against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4 and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 5 before Jenkins eventually made his return for a victory against the Chicago Bears in Week 6.
