An outside linebacker for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League, Jesse Shimba Luketa was born in Canada on January 15, 1999. (NFL). At Penn State, he played collegiate football.
Luketa was raised in Ottawa’s Heron Gate neighborhood after being born in Edmonton, Alberta. His mother, who emigrated to Canada from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, reared him as a single parent.
Luketa attended Mercyhurst Preparatory School in Erie, Pennsylvania, for his final three years of high school when he was 14 years old. Out of more than 40 scholarship offers, Luketa, a four-star recruit, chose Penn State to play collegiate football.
The Arizona Cardinals selected Luketa with the 256th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was the second-best prospect in Canada when he was selected as a territorial draft pick by the Ottawa Redblacks in the second round of the 2022 CFL Draft, 20th overall. He was released on August 30, 2022, and was added to the practice squad the next day. On September 27, he was added to the list of participants.
