He played quarterback and defensive back in football, and as a senior, he guided his team attain a perfect 15-0 record and the SCHSL AAAA Division II championship. Jadeveon Clowney and DeVonte Holloman were some of his colleagues. Gilmore, who was the offensive quarterback, rushed for 1,331 yards and 23 touchdowns and completed 14 passes for 1,771 yards. He was selected for The State’s first team all-state team and was recognized as an All-American by Parade and EA Sports. Additionally, he received the title of South Carolina’s Mr. Football.
