On August 14, 1983, Milena Markovna Kunis, an American actress was born in Chernivtsi, a city in the Ukrainian SSR of the Soviet Union, to a family of Ukrainian Jews.
Her father, Mark Kunis, is a mechanical engineer who works as a cab driver, and her mother, Elvira, is a physics teacher who owns a drugstore.
Kunis has stated that her family’s relocation to the United States was caused in part by anti-Semitism in the Soviet Union. Despite the Soviet Union’s suppression of religion, she has said that her parents “raised her Jewish as much as they could.”
Kunis enrolled at Rosewood Elementary School on her second day in Los Angeles despite not speaking a word of English.
At the age of 14, she debuted as Jackie Burkhart on the Fox television program That ’70s Show (1998–2006). Kunis has provided the voice of Meg Griffin on the Fox animated series Family Guy since 1999.
