David Montgomery grew up in the Cincinnati, Ohio region and is an Eagle Scout as well as a renowned prep dual-threat quarterback. He carried for 6,666 yards and 91 touchdowns throughout his four-year career.
He was selected Division III Ohio Player of the Year in 2015, as well as Southwest District Offensive Player of the Year. His senior season rushing total of 2,707 ranked as the 21st best in Ohio high school history. He has seven 200-yard games, three 300-yard games, and one 373-yard outing.

Montgomery appeared in all 12 games as a true freshman in 2016, starting the final four. He rushed for 563 yards, averaging 5.2 yards per carry, to lead the club.
This was the school’s second-best freshman performance in history. He carried for 169 yards on 24 carries in his second career start, defeating Kansas. For that performance, he was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week. He finished the season against West Virginia with 141 yards rushing and 45 yards receiving.
Montgomery was named to Campus Insiders’ honorable mention Freshman All-America team at the end of the season.
