Josh Braaten born June 25, 1977 is an American actor who grew up in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota.
Josh Braaten has a lot to be proud of. The Dutch filmmaker is on a roll, having just completed his third feature film ‘The Company You Keep’ and the first one that he wrote, directed and starred in.
But it’s not easy being Josh. Just three years ago, he was a 24-year-old struggling to get noticed by Hollywood and other film studios. If Braaten didn’t have an amazing resume, you probably wouldn’t have guessed it from looking at him today.
A four-time Oscar nominee for films like Life Itself, Prisoners and A History of Violence, the 28-year-old filmmaker is widely acknowledged as one of he most versatile and accomplished young filmmakers in the business.
Despite all of this success, back in 2014 Braaten was forced to return to his home country after almost two years because of visa problems.

He had been living in Los Angeles as a freelance writer/director when he received an offer he couldn’t refuse: a job as an assistant director on Terrence Malick’s To The Wonder.
The following year, Braaten finally got his big break when Malick made True Clouds (which starred Natalie Portman), which ultimately led to him landing another job as cinematographer on another Malick project – this time with Adam Sandler on Pixels .
