Roger Allam, a British actor, was born on October 26, 1953. He has been on stage, in films, on television, and on radio.
He played Inspector Javert in the inaugural London production of the stage musical Les Misérables as well as DCI Fred Thursday in the television series Endeavour and First Officer Douglas Richardson in the critically acclaimed radio drama Cabin Pressure. He is also well-known for his performances as Royalton in Speed Racer, Lewis Prothero in V for Vendetta, Illyrio Mopatis in Game of Thrones, and Peter Mannion MP in The Thick of It.
Having had six nominations, he has won three Laurence Olivier Awards.

Roger Allam has two sisters: Christine and Sylvia. He appeared in the first season of Endeavour, the long-running Inspector Morse prequel, in January 2012. He played Detective Inspector Fred Thursday, the stern but kind mentor of young Endeavour Morse in 1960s Oxford.
By 2018, Allam had played the title role in five more highly regarded series that were also broadcast in the United States as part of the PBS Masterpiece Mystery! series. The show’s seventh season, which would take place in 1970, was renewed in March 2019 after its sixth season on ITV completed. It was also slated to air in the United States throughout the summer.
