Littlefeather suffered from breast cancer for a long time. The initial diagnosis occurred in 2012.
The breast cancer, which was in remission, resurfaced again in 2018. This time it could not be treated because the tumor had metastasized to her right lung rendering her terminally ill.
When Littlefeather received an Eagle Spirit Award at the 2013 American Indian Film Festival, it was noted that she was a founding member of the Seattle-based “Red Earth Indian Theater Company.”
She reportedly traveled to Newfoundland in 1978 with the Greenpeace Foundation to oppose the Newfoundland seal hunt alongside public officials and other members of the entertainment industry.
She acted as a consultant for the PBS documentary Dance in America: Song for Dead Warriors, whose choreographer won an Emmy for his stellar work.
