Brian Hewson was a British middle-distance runner who passed away on September 13, 1972, at a ripe age of 89.

Hewson represented Great Britain at both the 1956 and 1960 Olympics where he won gold medals in the 1500 meters race.

Brian Hewson’s first wife: Bobbie Hewson

The athlete dated and eventually married his first wife, Bobbie Hewson in 1957.

Their marriage, however, did not last very long. They got divorced a few years down the line reason being that Bobbie adamantly refused to perform her wifely duties in the bedroom.

She left Hewson no choice but to end the marriage because sexual intercourse in every marriage is very important.

Hewson first took up running in 1947 while attending Mitcham Grammar School, where he was given a scholarship to Mitcham Athletics Club. He achieved the A.A. Junior 880 title as a Junior in a time-record 1:55.3.

During his active racing years, Hewson set so many world records in the long-distance discipline.

He became the fourth man in the entire world to run a four-minute mile race with a record time of 3:59.8 at the British Games Meeting in London in the year 1955.
