Former State Rep. Jeff Pyle, 57, passed away in Ford City on Wednesday after a protracted battle with cancer.
Pyle, a resident of Ford City, had nine years as mayor, a teacher, and a Republican state representative. His wife Michele Pyle and his two daughters are still living.
Pyle has been battling cancer since 2005, but until he quit as a state representative this year, remissions from the disease permitted him to do so. He experienced a stroke the year before he retired.
Pyle gave a speech at the Butler County Community College’s Ford City groundbreaking a little more than a year ago.
To increase the educational and career opportunities for residents, Pyle rallied support and raised several million dollars.
