After former England international and current pundit Trevor Sinclair said that the Queen had allowed racism to “thrive,” talkSPORT made an effort to get in touch with him.
The amazing reign of more than 70 years came to an end on Thursday when Queen Elizabeth II passed away peacefully at the age of 96 in Balmoral.
The long-serving monarch’s passing prompted a 10-day period of national mourning, but Sinclair chose a different approach even though the majority reaction to an event of such great national significance has been pleasant and polite.
He stated on Twitter: “Why should black and brown mourn? Racism was outlawed in England in the 60s & it’s been allowed to thrive.”
The 49-year-old received a lot of negative feedback on social media, and in response, his bosses responded by announcing they were opening an investigation.
They wrote on Twitter, “We have been attempting to get in touch with Trevor Sinclair as a result of thoughts posted on his Twitter account.”
