A suspect wanted in connection with a stabbing spree that left 10 people dead in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan may have been spotted, Canadian authorities said Wednesday afternoon.

A person who was reported to be armed with a knife was sighted in the town of Wakaw and in the city of Prince Albert, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said. Wakaw is about 40 miles south of Prince Albert. Both are in Saskatchewan.

The person was spotted in a 2008 white Chevrolet Avalanche with Saskatchewan license plate No. 953 LPL. The vehicle was reported stolen at 2:10 p.m. local time, police said.
“We believe this may be related to the Melfort dangerous person alert issued Sept 4,” police tweeted. “Shelter in place. Do NOT approach suspicious persons. Report suspicious persons, emergencies, or info to 911. Do not disclose police locations.”

Two brothers are suspected in Sunday’s stabbing spree which occurred in 13 separate locations throughout the James Smith Cree Nation and in Weldon, authorities said. One of the brothers, 31-year-old Damien Sanderson, was found dead Monday. Police said his death did not appear to be self-inflicted.

His brother, 32-year-old Myles Sanderson, remains at large.

Myles Sanderson is wanted on charges including three counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, and one count of break-and-enter.

Along with the 10 fatalities, another 19 people were injured in the stabbing attack.
