With the recently released spin-off, the American novelist, who acted as a consultant on Game of Thrones, is taking a more active role. Having had his “least favorite” Game of Thrones scene fixed in the most recent House of the Dragon episode, George R.R. Martin will be happy.

With the recently released spin-off, the 73-year-old American author—who served as a consultant on Game of Thrones—is taking a more hands-on approach. Three episodes in, it has already shown a greater fidelity to the books than its predecessor.

The fantasy show’s third episode, which is broadcast in the UK on Sky Atlantic, went the farthest in what appeared to be an intentional rewrite of a scenario Martin openly despised from GoT’s first season in which King Robert Baratheon embarks on a disastrous boar hunt.

Martin reflected on the situation and remarked, “My least favorite scene in the entire show, in all eight seasons, was where we really went down in terms of budget.”
