Yes, Gary Raymond and Robin Rodney are twins born in Brixton, London, on April 20, 1935, to theatrical parents. Gary was born twenty minutes after his brother Robin, making him the youngest of three siblings. Their mother died of tuberculosis less than one year of their birth.
Gary won a scholarship to the Gateway School when he was 11 years old, he was there until he turned sixteen.
Gary was later trained at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and after that, he worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company in the 1950s, where he played roles such as Macbeth, Oberon and Claudius, and others.
He made his film debut as Charles Stuart (King Charles II) in the British swashbuckling film The Moonraker in 1958, and as Cliff Lewis in Tony Richardson’s film adaptation of John Osborne’s Look Back in Anger in the same year.
Gary is subsequently notable for films such as Suddenly, Last Summer (1959), in which he appeared with Katharine Hepburn, Mercedes McCambridge, and Elizabeth Taylor; The Millionairess (1960), where he played Sophia Loren’s character’s husband; El Cid (1961), The Playboy of the Western World (1962), just to mention a few.
Garry got married to Delena Kidd in the year 1961 and their union is blessed with three children.
