Just before the 2018 Valero Texas Open began, Niemann turned professional. He managed to place an enviable sixth in his debut competition as a professional golfer.
With a T6 at the Memorial Tournament, his third top-ten in just five starts on the circuit, he was awarded Special Temporary Member Status on the PGA Tour for the remainder of 2018.
Niemann is the third golfer, following Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth, to successfully avoid the Web.com Tour Finals and obtain PGA cards after beginning the season with no status.
Niemann’s maiden PGA Tour triumph came at the A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier in September 2019.
He participated in the 2019 Presidents Cup for the International squad in December and went 0-3-1. He finished the Sentry Tournament of Champions final round in January 2021 with a score of 64.
The Chilean golfer then played in a playoff with Harris English, but lost on the first extra hole. He placed T2 at the Sony Open in Hawaii a week later, one stroke behind Kevin Na.
