Jamey Rootes, one of America’s respected sports executives and ex-President of Houston Texans, has kicked the bucked. He died on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at the age of 56.
His wife, Melissa Rootes, confirmed his passing through her official Facebook page on Monday.
Rootes was the president of the Houston Texans of the National Football League and was responsible for the team’s business operations.
He was the president and general manager of the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer before joining the Texans.
In February 2021, resigned from Houston Texans as President after two decades to pursue interests as a writer, public speaker, consultant and professor at the University of Houston.
Rootes was hired in 2000 as the Texans began preparations for their expansion season in 2002. He was responsible for all of the team’s business functions, including stadium naming rights and sponsorships, ticket sales and coordinating radio and TV broadcasting relationships.
