Shalom Cohen was a rabbi who hailed from Jerusalem. He was the spiritual head of the Shas political party and was considered one of the most intelligent leaders of Judaism
He was one of Rabbi Efraim Hakohen’s eight children. His father was a Sephardi kabbalist who lived in Baghdad where he become a follower of the Ben Ish Chai before relocating to Palestine in 1924.
At the age of 13, Shalom enrolled in the Porat Yosef Yeshiva and quickly earned a reputation for being one of the best students.
Shalom Cohen is reported to have passed away in Jerusalem on August 22, 2022, after weeks of suffering an illness. He was 91 years of age at the time of his death.
