The Association of Tennis Professionals has him ranked first in the world.
He has 14 ATP Tour singles titles to his name, including the 2021 US Open and the 2020 ATP Finals.
Medvedev was born in Moscow, the son of Sergey and Olga Medvedeva.
Daniil’s father, a computer engineer, ran his own building materials sales business from the mid-1980s to the early 2010s.
Medvedev has two older sisters, Julia and Elena, who are 12 and 8 years respectively.
Ekaterina Kryuchkova, a former coach of professional tennis player Vera Zvonareva, was Medvedev’s first tennis teacher.
Aside from sports, Daniil’s other childhood interests included harpsichord and guitar lessons.
Medvedev attended a specialized school for physics and math before graduating early and enrolling in economics and commerce at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
Later, he dropped out to concentrate on tennis. He then transferred to the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth, and Tourism, where he earned his coaching diploma.
