Dick Vitale was raised in Garfield after being born in Passaic, New Jersey. In his first year of college, he relocated to East Paterson (now Elmwood Park).

John, his father, worked as a piecework garment press operator and a security guard in addition to that. His mother, Mae, was a coat seamstress who worked in a factory.

Where did Dick Vitale go to college?

Vitale attended Seton Hall University and graduated in 1963 with bachelor of science degree in business administration.

He subsequently earned his master’s degree in education from William Paterson University.

For “Hoops Malone,” a series of thirty-second promotional shorts starring Vitale were released in 1999.

The shorts were marketed as a sitcom and included Vitale, George Gervin, and others, as well as a puppet named “O’Hoolix.”

They were broadcast in frequent rotation on ESPN. There were never any genuine episodes created. As a result, Vitale was given the chance to star in a real comedy, but he declined the offer.

He participates as an in-studio analyst throughout the postseason alongside the host Rece Davis, Jay Bilas, Digger Phelps, Hubert Davis, and Bob Knight.
