Before becoming known as the lead vocalist for Grim Reaper, he was a member of the short-lived Medusa. Grimmett later appeared briefly in Onslaught before forming Lionsheart and, more recently, The Steve Grimmett Band and GrimmStine.
He is the son of John Barry and Amelia Lyman. He has a brother named Mark Grimett.
