Anne Heche was born on May 25, 1969, as the youngest of five children in Aurora, Ohio. Her family moved frequently during her childhood, eventually settling in New Jersey, where 12-year-old Heche began working at a local dinner theatre. Her father died of AIDS when she was 13, and the actress accused him of sexual abuse in her 2001 memoir. “I had a bad family life,” she told PEOPLE once. “I went looking for a great one.”
On August 5, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to Us Weekly that the driver, whom they did not initially identify, was allegedly speeding while travelling eastbound on Preston Way in Los Angeles. When a blue Mini Cooper approached the Preston and Walgrove intersection, it ran off the road and collided with a house. Lynne Mishele was at home, but she was in the backyard and was not seriously hurt.
The Mini Cooper was completely engulfed in flames, and the driver suffered severe burns. A rep for Heche told Us one day after the incident that the actress was “currently in stable condition,” adding, “Her family and friends ask for your thoughts and prayers, as well as to respect her privacy during this difficult time.”
