Following her condemnation of yesterday’s assassination of fellow British author Salman Rushdie, Harry Potter creator JK Rowling has received a public threat from an Iran-backed fanatic.
Rowling, who has already been harassed by certain trans activists for her gender ideas, had made a piece expressing her outrage at Rushdie’s assassination attempt when one respondent threatened her with harm.
“Horrifying news,” Rowling commented on Friday night. I’m now feeling pretty ill. Allow him to be okay.”
Meer Asif Aziz, who describes himself as a “student, social activist, political activist, and research activist” on Twitter, answered, “Don’t worry, you are next.”
Rowling openly requested help from Twitter today, asking @TwitterSupport, “Any possibility of some support?” However, Aziz’s position is still in place. He had earlier labeled Hadi Matar, the guy detained in connection with Rushdie’s attack, as a “revolutionary Shia fighter.”
Rowling acknowledged the involvement of the police, telling followers, “To everybody offering encouraging messages: thank you.” Police are involved (as they were with earlier threats).”
This fresh threat to Rowling followed yesterday’s stabbing of Salman Rushdie at a conference near Buffalo, New York, where he was preparing to give a free speech talk.
Rushdie’s representative claimed last night that the author is now on a ventilator but appears to be at risk of losing the use of an eye.
