Former Queensland State of Origin halfback and professional rugby league football coach Paul Gregory Green passed away on August 11, 2022, in Australia.

He played for the Brisbane Broncos, Sydney Roosters, Parramatta Eels, North Queensland Cowboys, and Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. Green led the Cowboys to their first championship as a coach in 2015.

Did Paul Green play for Roosters?

He played for the Roosters. Green participated in each of Queensland’s three games in the 2001 series victory over New South Wales.

He missed the entire 2002 Roosters premiership-winning season due to an injury. He however participated in 19 games that year, starting 17 of them at halfback, and was recalled to another State of Origin squad.

Green worked as a coach with the Brisbane Broncos and Wynnum Manly from 2004 to 2008 after ending his playing career.

During this time, he won back-to-back premierships with both clubs. He was named head coach of the Queensland Residents in 2012, a representative squad made up of the top coaches and players from the Queensland Cup competition.

To win the 2012 Queensland Residents championship, his squad defeated the New South Wales Residents.

He was hired in 2013 to serve as both the assistant coach for the National Rugby League club and the head coach of the Sydney Roosters Toyota Cup squad.

2014 saw Green’s NYC team get to the Under 20s competition’s semifinals. In 2015, Green’s coaching career was hampered, according to Brisbane Broncos head coach Wayne Bennett for reasons best known to him.
