Whitley David Merrifield is a second baseman and outfielder in Major League Baseball for the Toronto Blue Jays.
He was born on January 24, 1989.
Merrifield graduated with a high school diploma from Davie County High School in Mocksville, North Carolina.
He enrolled at the University of South Carolina, where he played baseball for the Gamecocks of South Carolina from 2008 to 2010.
During the summer of 2008, he played for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
The following summer he played for the Chatham Anglers in the same league, with his impressive performances getting the attention of many scouts.

During his time in Kansas, he finished as the American League’s top stealer in three different seasons and was chosen for two All-Star games.
His time with the Kansas City Royals came to a sad end after he and ten other players were unable to travel to a series in Toronto because they were unvaccinated.
He was traded to Toronto Bay in August 2022 and is reportedly looking for a house within the city.
It still remains unknown if he will vaccinate to enable him to play for the Toronto club, or if he will be added to another trade package.
