Richard Carapaz is an Ecuadorian professional road racer who currently competes on the UCI WorldTeam Ineos Grenadiers. In 2019, Carapaz became the first Ecuadorian rider to win the Giro d’Italia.
He won the gold medal in the road race at the 2020 Summer Olympics in July 2021, becoming the first Ecuadorian cyclist to earn a medal and just the second Ecuadorian to win a gold medal at the Olympics.
