An Alton Towers visitor who attempted to climb over the fence to bypass the line was left dangling there. The visitor, who was possibly in his late teens, was standing in line for the Rita roller coaster.
He is believed to have been climbing the fence when his foot became trapped at the top. When he reached the other side, he found himself hanging by his leg in full view of numerous onlookers.
Both a land ambulance and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene to save the situation. The visitor was then taken away for treatment of what are thought to be minor injuries.
According to a representative for Alton Towers Resort, (Medical assistance arrived on site to assist with a visitor whose actions in a line-up resulted in their foot becoming wedged between two fence posts.
(Due to the Resort’s rural location, an air ambulance was dispatched even though it wasn’t necessary. The visitor did not sustain any serious injuries and was transported from the resort by land ambulance for additional evaluation).
