The UK government has put sanctions on the separatist leaders in Ukraine who are imposed by Russia.
Assets belonging to two alleged leaders of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics have been frozen.
Following the invasion of Crimea in 2014, separatists in the eastern territories that make up the Donbas established unrecognized pro-Russian statelets.
According to Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, the UK will continue to impose sanctions on those who support Russia’s incursion.
Prime Minister Vitaly Khotsenko of the purported Donetsk People’s Republic and First Deputy Chairman of the purported Luhansk People’s Republic Vladislav Kuznetsov were both denied entry to the UK on Tuesday by the government.
The pair, according to the UK Foreign Office, were sent to the area to carry out Russian policies and supported Putin’s plans to illegitimately annex more of Ukraine.
They also allegedly used phony referendums to falsely legitimize Russia’s occupation.
Additionally, 29 regional governors from all throughout Russia have received sanctions.
The Kremlin allegedly instructed the governors to transfer money to the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republic in order to support the occupation, according to the UK.
