With the news that Barcelona had snatched Sevilla defender Jules Kounde from under their noses, the Blues have suffered a significant transfer blow. They had reached an agreement on a £55 million transfer for the 23-year-old France international, hoping to put an end to their year-long search for the defender.
However, Barcelona moved to take their place, leaving Thomas Tuchel looking for a replacement.
From speculations, Chelsea is attempting to acquire RB Leipzig defender Mukiele instead. The 24-year-old center-back for France’s national team allegedly already had a deal in place with PSG to go back to his native country.
He has not yet signed the contract, so Tuchel is preparing a dramatic last-minute swoop. According to a recent report, Chelsea is trying to hijack the deal and is prepared to offer forward Timo Werner, who joined from Leipzig in 2020, a return to his former team.
PSG continues to have faith that they can handle Tuchel’s team’s threat and they are currently scrambling to sign the contracts so that they can officially introduce Mukiele as a member of their team by Wednesday.
