After winning the inaugural competition, Fallon Sherrock made light of the fact that the World Matchplay trophy nearly snapped her arms off.
After defeating Aileen de Graaf (6-3) in the championship match today, the Queen of the Palace was dubbed the Wonder Woman of the Winter Gardens.
The 28-year-old Sherrock raised the FA Cup-like trophy to claim the £10,000 prize and promised that the women’s game will continue to develop.
(That trophy is really heavy, it almost snapped my arms off, she acknowledged.

After outclassing Katie Sheldon and Lorraine Winstanley, Sherrock overcame a 3-2 deficit to defeat the Dutch ace in the championship match. She also completed the event’s sole three 180s.
(I know I just won, but I think all the women gave a really good performance, and I think that’s what we needed,) Sherrock continued. Hopefully, from here, we can move forward.
