According to reports, Harry Maguire has turned down the opportunity to play for Barcelona in order to remain at Manchester United and get through his challenging period.
The Red Devils’ captain received harsh criticism for his actions during the previous campaign and was jeered by his own supporters both at the club and on the international stage.
This month’s preseason friendly against Crystal Palace was met with more boos and humiliation.
Credible sources also claim that Maguire had the option of leaving Manchester in exchange for Frenkie de Jong.
However, the 29-year-old center-back turned down the transfer to Barcelona in order to get through his difficult times at United.
The encouragement of Maguire’s new boss Erik ten Hag has also been pretty much supportive.
Per reports, he is unmoved by his current predicament and wants to have a successful season with United this summer.
Off the field, Maguire is said to finally receive a court date for his assault case involving the Greek vacation; however, he won’t be able to clear his name until 2023.
In the coming weeks, he will get a summons to court for an appeal hearing. It is alleged he was found guilty of assaulting the police in Mykonos nearly two years earlier.
