What happened to Brandon McNulty?
After Friday’s stage 3, the American star was comfortably positioned in seventh place overall in the Swiss race, only 25 seconds behind Rohan Dennis.
McNulty had a challenging spring after having a hot start to the season with victories at Trofeo Calvia, Faun-Ardèche Classic, and a challenging mountainous stage at Paris-Nice.
In his spare time, McNulty liked to ride his mountain bike. He grew up in Phoenix, Arizona.
Early on, McNulty was a standout, taking first place in nearly every mountain bike competition he entered while competing in the 11–12 juvenile divisions.
Eventually, McNulty switched to road racing.
After taking home multiple victories in regional competitions in Belgium in 2014, McNulty drew Roy Knickman’s attention.
Knickman recommended Barney King as a coach after recognizing McNulty’s talent.
