Although the two are not known to be related, Gina Lewandowski is of Polish descent and shares her last name with Robert Lewandowski, a star for Bayern Munich’s men’s squad at the time.
Is Gina Lewandowski related to Robert Lewandowski?
Gina Lewandowski, a defender, doesn’t score frequently, but on Sunday she scored the game-winning goal for Bayern against FFC Frankfurt, giving the defending champions of the Frauen-Bundesliga a six-point advantage over their nearest rivals.
In the above video, prolific scorer Robert Lewandowski speaks with Gina about her goal while jokingly suggesting that it was a slow-rolling tap-in.
In a recent Bundesliga game against Wolfsburg, Robert Lewandowski ignited the internet by scoring five goals in nine minutes.
It was impossible to pass up the opportunity to cross-promote two Lewandowskis who scored goals while playing for the same club one for the men’s team and one for the women’s squad.
And that is precisely the type of cross-promotion that the clubs in Portland, Houston, and Orlando can carry out for their respective MLS and NWSL teams.
